The pleasure of supplying construction materials and all types of hardware to the clientele of Havre-Saint-Pierre and adjacent villages has a long history. In fact, it was around the end of the 1940's that Mr Benoit Vigneault (father of the present owners) founded a general store. It was the first steps that led to the Vigneault Materials-Hardware firm. Recognizing the persistent needs of the populace, Mr Vigneault continued to develop his business on his own. And yet, it was only in 1975 that the first hardware store, located at 1199 rue Boréale began. Towards the end of the 1980's, three of Mr Vigneault's sons, Nico, Rodrigue and Pierre, acquired Benoit Vigneault Ltd, better known as Vigneault Materials-Hardware. Finally, it was after celebrating Mr Vigneault`s 50 years in business in the summer of 1996 that the family decided to invest in a commercial center "Le Havre du Commerce", and since, we now find construction materials and hardware under the same roof.
